I boarded a blue train today...numbered 312 C on the first motorman coach. It was not my first trip on this train but 2 days before I had a smooooth ride on this train. The train was stopping and starting without a single jerk. This was similar to the earlier Old Central Railway trains made by Integral Coach Factory in 1950s...starting from the series number 100. The train I boarded was originally from the Western Railways and having both Alternate Current & Direct Current system which is necessary to run on its Virar-Dahanu corridor. Other than my mother tongue I always had a fascination for Bengali language and Bengali people. When I was in college, couple of hindi serials based on Bengali stories, "Satyajit Ray Presents", "Vyomkesh Bakshi", "Kaaliganj ki Bahu" used to be aired on Doordarshan. It started when I joined an ad agency to work as a graphic artist some 10 years back. The owner of the company was a pure Bengali person Mr. Anjan Chatterji. Everyday I used to hear conversations in Bengali. I started liking Bengali script as one of the famous Marathi calligrapher used to visit our office for language conversions. I just spent some time looking through your gallery. I had the chance to stay at a couple art residencies in India this summer (in Delhi and Kolkatta) and your pictures bring back a lot of memories . . . good work.
